Greg Schackel, MD

Greg Schackel, MD, Board Certified in Otolaryngology received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1985. He completed a surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at University of Utah in 1991.

Dr. Schackel specializes in the treatment of children and adults with ear, nose & throat diseases/conditions. He has over twenty years of experience and is specially trained in head & neck surgery, facial cancer, sinus, ear, nasal surgeries, tonsillectomies, ear tube placement and Micro chisel ear surgery for removal of bony ear growths aka “Kayakers or Surfers Ear”. Other services available include: snoring treatment, diagnostic hearing loss, hearing aid dispensing and allergy treatment using sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).


Rachel Cain, MD

Dr. Rachel Cain, a Durango native, earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Denver followed by a medical degree from the University of Vermont. She then went on to complete internship and residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Cain has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the ears, nose, and throat in both children and adults. Her interests include nasal and endoscopic sinus surgery, tonsillectomies, ear surgery, hearing loss, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, cancer of the face or neck, BAHA implant surgery for single sided deafness, Inspire Implant surgery for OSA and treatment of voice disorders.


Erin Hamlin, PA-C (Physician Assistant Certified)

Erin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Ball State University and went on to complete the Physician Assistant Program at St. Louis, Missouri in 2000. Erin is a certified physician assistant and has over nine years of combined experience in the areas of cardiovascular, nephrology and otolaryngology medicine.


Wendy Stapleton, PA-C (Physician Assistant Certified)

Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in medical science-physician assistant degree from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV in 1994. After working in Atlanta and Dallas, she moved to Durango in 1998 where she has worked in general orthopedics, sports and otolaryngology medicine. She is a certified Physician Assistant.


Judie Vagneur

Judie has been a Certified Nurse Aide since 1993 and completed the Practical Nurse training program at Pueblo Community College. Judie has over seven years of ENT and Allergy Testing experience.


Tevan Trujillo, Au.D., CCC-A

Tevan is a fellow member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. After graduating from Durango High School she started her collegiate career at the University of Northern Colorado where she graduated with her Bachelors degree in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Audiology degree at the University of Utah. Her 4th year clinical externship training was completed at Colorado ENT and Allergy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Dr. Trujillo will provide expertise in diagnostic audiological services, hearing aid consultations and hearing aid follow-up care. She also specializes in bone-anchored hearing devices and cochlear implant needs including candidacy, activation and follow-up care.
